SIT QUIET
woodcut installation, digital documentation
2014
project awarded in the Grand Prix of Young Polish Print competition in 2015
'Sit Quiet' (Polish: "Siedź cicho") is a woodcut installation taking a form of two stools; in their seats there are words siedź = sit and cicho = quiet. The interactivity of the work consists in the possibility of imprinting the matrix by sitting directly on its surface. "Siedź cicho" is a phrase often addressed to children, here it refers to the final stage of a relationship. There is nothing left to say, all you can do is sit and wait. The temporary trace of this waiting gets imprinted on the skin and for a short moment does not allow to forget. The work tells a story of a couple, presents a complexity of a human relationship – each part of the text has been imprinted on naked buttocks of models.
